Instead of having your wedding ceremony in the early afternoon and your wedding reception begin late in the afternoon and extend over the dinner hour, consider having everything take place over a shorter amount of time. Instead of a meal, offer a tea — a variety of refreshments, finger foods, and cake. These items will certainly cost money, but will generally be a fraction of the cost of hosting a dinner reception.
Get Help From People You Know
Each person you book to play a role in your wedding comes at a cost, but you can cut corners by reaching out to your circle of friends and family members to ask for their help. For example, instead of booking an officiant, you may have a friend who is licensed to preside over weddings who could do this service for free. Instead of booking a limo to carry the wedding party, find someone you know who has a high-end SUV and buy him or her a tank of gas as a tradeoff for driving the wedding party around. You may even know a family member with vast gardens who could supply the bouquets instead of using a florist.

Many wedding venues can be expensive, especially if they're in high demand. There are many strategies that you can employ to find a venue that suits you and comes with a low price tag. For example, you might have a family member with a large property who would be up for hosting the event. Or, a friend's parents may own a venue that would be suitable for the ceremony and reception and could give you a discounted rate. Each cost-saving decision that you make will leave you with more money in your pocket as you begin your married life.
